How to Use Test Pages to Check Badge Printing Alignment
Before printing directly on your badge inserts, it’s important to confirm that your design lines up with the badge size you’re using. Imprint Plus provides downloadable test pages that let you check alignment on plain paper first. This step helps you avoid wasted inserts and ensures your badges print correctly.
Step 1: Download the Right Test Page
Select the test page that matches your badge size:
| Product | Size (inch) | Size (cm) | Test Page PDF |
| Elongated Small (ES) | 0.6" x 2.7" | 1.57 x 6.8 cm | Download |
| Thin Oval (TO) | 0.9" x 2.7" | 2.41 cm x 6.99 cm | Download |
| Medium (MD) | 1" x 3" | 2.54 x 7.62 cm | Download |
| Large (LG) | 1.5" x 2.7" | 3.81 x 6.98 cm | Download |
| Medium Plus (MP) | 1.5" x 3" | 3.81 x 7.62 cm | Download |
| Large Oval (OV) | 1.7" x 2.6" | 4.32 cm x 6.60 cm | Download |
| Credit Card (ID) | 2.1" x 3.4" | 5.40 x 8.56 cm | Download |

Step 2: Print the Test Page
- Use a standard sheet of paper.
- In your print settings, set scaling to 100% (Actual Size) — not “Fit to Page.”
- Print in portrait or landscape depending on your design template.
Step 3: Check the Alignment
- Place your printed test page behind an actual badge insert sheet.
- Hold both sheets up to the light.
- Check that the outlines on the test page align with the insert cutouts.
Step 4: Adjust if needed
- If the design is not aligned, adjust your printer settings (margins, scaling, or orientation).
- Reprint the test page until alignment is correct.
- Once satisfied, print on your badge inserts.
Tips for Best Results
- Always run a test page when using a new printer or making design adjustments.
- Use the same printer settings you’ll use for the final badges.
- If you still experience alignment issues, review your printer’s scaling options or contact Imprint Plus Support.
