19 Feb Imprint Plus President Ellen Flanders Campaigns for a Good Cause
We all need to be concerned about mental illness because we are all affected. The struggle might be a personal one or it might be with someone we know and love. The simple fact is no one is immune. Mental illness crosses all ages, races, religions and socioeconomic lines.
The overall impact of mental health is profound:
- 1 in 5 Canadians experience a mental illness in their lifetime
- Mental illness costs the Canadian economy $51 billion each year in absenteeism and reduced productivity
- Mental illness is the leading cause of disability around the world; and
- Mental illness affects people from all walks of life and all ages – from children, to young adults, to seniors. It touches all families.
We’re so proud of Imprint Plus President Ellen Flanders for volunteering to raise money for Vancouver General Hospital’s mental health campaign. VGH is constructing a new Mental Health Centre. This $73 million facility is in the final planning stages and, when constructed, will be the largest mental health facility in B.C.
The provincial government has already announced its $48 million+ commitment. With gifts from other donors already pledged, we need to raise the final $10 million to make this important facility a reality and we hope to do so by the end of this year.
Ellen’s goal is is to raise $100,000. Please click here to access Ellen’s Personal Fundraising Page. We appreciate your generosity!
