How to Use the RFID Key Card Test Kit?
If you are unsure which key card works with your door locks, the RFID Test Kit helps you confirm the exact chip type your system requires. Each kit includes six test cards containing the most common RFID technologies used across hospitality, commercial buildings, and access control environments.
Testing upfront ensures the correct SKU is selected for your property, prevents ordering errors, and saves time for your staff.
What’s Included in Your Test Kit
Your kit contains six cards. Each one represents a different chip type. The code on each card matches the table below.
| Test Card | Code |
|---|---|
| Key Card – Test Card - 1K BT | BT |
| Key Card – Test Card - NXP Ultralight C | CO |
| Key Card – Test Card - NXP Ultralight EV128 | EV |
| Key Card – Test Card - 1K SO | SO |
| Key Card – Test Card - 1K OA | OA |
| Key Card – Test Card - 1K VC | OAV |
These cards are used to determine which RFID environment your lock system supports.
How to Test Your Cards
Step 1. Activate your lock
Wake up or activate your lock or card reader if required by tapping, pressing a button, or pulling the handle.
Step 2. Test each card
Tap or insert each test card the same way you normally use a room key or access card. Watch for a clear acceptance signal, such as:
- Green light
- Unlock signal
- Positive chirp indicator
If the lock rejects a card, simply move to the next one.
Step 3. Identify the working card
Once you find the card that works, record the code printed on the card. This code tells us which chip technology your system requires.
Step 4. Email us your result
Send a photo of the working card and include the code in your message to your Imprint Plus sales representative.
Our team will confirm the correct SKU for your property and guide you through ordering.
What Happens Next
After you send us the code:
- We match it to the correct RFID SKU for your lock brand
- We confirm your quantity and printing needs
- We prepare your quote or order
- You receive key cards that are fully compatible with your system
This process aligns with our internal verification and follow-up steps to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
FAQs
What if none of the test cards work?
Some locks use less common or proprietary chip types. Email us with your lock brand and model if possible. We will help identify your system and may send a different kit if needed.
What if more than one card works?
Some locks accept multiple chip technologies. Send us photos and codes for all working cards. We will choose the correct option for long-term performance and compatibility.
Do I need to return the kit?
No. You can keep or discard the cards.
Can I order key cards before testing?
We recommend testing first. It prevents ordering the wrong chip and avoids production delays.
How long will it take to receive my test kit?
Kits are shipped through standard courier services. You will receive tracking details from our customer service team.
Why do I need to send both a photo and the code?
The code is the identifier we use to match your card to the exact SKU. The photo helps confirm the card visually and prevents miscommunication.
How can I request a Key Card Test Kit?
If you would like a test kit sent to your property, please reach out directly to your Imprint Plus account manager or sales representative. If you are not currently connected with a rep, contact our Customer Service team and they will coordinate the request for you.
